CONSTRUCTION and HULLFORM The hullform is a medium V design with a 16 degrees deadrise aft: the deep V forward gives a soft entry into head seas and ensures good seakeeping in heavy weather. The full length moulded spray deflectors and pronounced chine knuckle keep the boat dry and increase the lift for good planing performance. All glassfibre throughout the boat was laid up by hand, with an extensive network of transverse and longtitudinal stringers glassed into the skin to strengthen all stressed areas. No fillers were used: hull and deck are bolted and bonded together and waterline colours are moulded in. ANCHOR Self stowing anchor with 15 fathoms of chain and electric anchor winch. |
PERFORMANCE 2 x Volvo TAMD 61A Turbo Diesel engines, 306hp each, provide approx 22 knots cruising and 27 knots top speed. FUEL Two 500 litre steel tanks, located on either side of the engine bay with seperate fillers and vents. Fuel system permits both engines to draw fuel from either tank. Fuel is piped in copper with aircraft quality fuel filler and bleed pipes. WATER 450 litre storage tank. Calorfier hot water system. Automatic water pump for hot and cold water to toilets and galley. GAS Stowage for 2 gas bottlles in self venting locker on aft deck. |
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 12 volt system. All cicuits protected by circuit breakers. 2 x 125ah batteries wired in parallel supply the domestic services and start the port engine. They are charged from the port engine. The starboard engine is started by a separate system of 2 x 125ah batteries and are charged from the starboard engine. 240v AC shore line supply with two outlets in the galley, four in the saloon, one in the front cabin and one in the aft cabin. An outlet in the engine bay provides power to the onboard battery charger for the port engine batteries only. |
ENGINE AND STERGEAR Engines mounted on steel bearers. Stainless-steel shafts driving 3 bladed contra-rotating nickel/aluminium/bronze propellers, with nickel/aluminium/bronze P-brackets and rudders which are offset from the shaft centre line. Cathodic protection from sacrificial anode linked to common earth system. Automatic bilge pumps for engine bay and rudder bay (permanently connected) with manual 'on' override switch at lower helm position. Electric engine bay extractor fan. |
